Commercial fencing and enclosures are readily available, but the cost may be a barrier to many cat owners. The Victorian Government trialled several options for DIY cat confinement including enclosure construction and making existing fencing cat proof. While the enclosure was relatively easy to make cat proof, fencing proved much more difficult. The final solution is an inward leaning fence extension made of netting (like a tennis net),left floppy to prevent cats feeling secure when climbing on it.
Detailed plans on construction of enclosures or modifying fences are available in a brochure produced by the Victorian Government and available at How to build cat proof fencing and cat enclosures
